November 11-13, 2011
Our
faith in God reminds us that the Holy Spirit guides us each day and
leads us to a still place where God's voice can be heard. All
that Jesus said and did allowed for the face and heart of his Father
to be seen, because of His willingness to be led by the Spirit.
This same spirit calls to us so that the face and heart of Jesus can
be seen in and through us. This time of retreat will help us
quiet down, to let go of distractions and allow us to hear His voice
call us to a change of heart and perhaps even a new direction.
It will be an invitation to abandon our normal spaces and
spend time with Him. What is He calling us to do and who is He
calling us to be? When we get way with Him, we find Him
more than willing to help us with the answers, and to help us see
the unique role He has prepared for us in the Body of Christ.

December 2-4, 2011 25th Annual Rivier Retreat Jesus: Cause of our Joy Your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart.
(Jer. 15: 16) and a team of Rivier Associates
It's the 25th Anniversary of our Annual Rivier Weekends! What better way to celebrate than attempt to discover the multiple pathways to joy revealed in the words and actions of Jesus? I have told you there things, so that you will be filled with joy! And that your cup of joy may overflow! (John 15:11).
Joy is meant to be the distinguishing mark of a follower of Jesus. There are "101 pathways to joy" hidden in His words. We will trace a few and explore how the joy of the Lord is our strength. Hopefully, this celebration weekend will help us catch its overflow and set our feet a-dancing with a bouncing Magnificat for the marvels the Lord has done for the Association during 25 years of pondering His love. If we do not truly enjoy our faith, nobody is going to catch the fire of joy from us. (Madeleine L'Engle)
* For members of Rivier's Family.

February 17-19, 2012 Seeing the Familiar with New Eyes with Ann Harriman
In truth we gaze but do not see, and hearken but do not hear; we eat and drink but do not taste. And there lies the difference between Jesus of Nazareth and ourselves. His senses were all continually made new, and the world to Him was always a new world... To Him, the root of a buttercup was a longing towards God, while to us it is naught but a root. Kahill Gibran - Jesus: The Son of Man. This weekend will give us an opportunity to step back and remember when we had the childlike gifts of Wonder and Awe. An important part of the spiritual life is learning to pay attention. We will look into our hearts and find that we too, are a wonder; created and loved by God. The goal of St. Ignatius of Loyola was finding God in all things, meaning that every part of our lives can lead us to God. Our eyes must be opened to see the extraordinary in the ordinary!
Cost: $150.00 Arrival: 6:30 / PM Friday Departure: 1:00 PM / Sunday

MARCH 30 - APRIL 1. 2012 Palm Sunday Young Adults Retreat: By His Wounds We Are Healed (Is. 53:5) with William Brown, OMV and Jeremy Paulin, OMV
In Richard Rohr’s series, On Transformation,
he notes that what is not transformed is transmitted. Unless
we transform the pains and sufferings in our lives, we are bound to
transmit them onto others. In order to be transformed, however, we
have to be willing to face and deal with the pains and their root
causes. Presenting them to Christ, by whose wounds we are
healed, (Is. 53:5) is the key to experiencing the healing God
desires for us. In preparation for Easter, this Lenten retreat for
young adults in their 20’s and 30’s provides an opportunity to
discover how the sufferings we have experienced in life can be the
means by which we are transformed by God’s grace, and helps us to be
empathetic instead of reactive in our relationships with others.

SPECIAL 5 DAY RETREAT
JUNE 10 - 15, 2012 A Call to the Church with Fr. Emmanuel Charles McCarthy
Fr. McCarthy, who has presented thousands of conferences over more than forty years on the Nonviolent Jesus of the Gospels and His Way of Nonviolent Love of friends and enemies, illuminates in this retreat, the centrality of this truth of Jesus and His Way, and why reforming the Churches of Christianity is not a reform that can be ignored, but one which, if chosen, will renew the face of the earth. In this retreat, he tackles difficult questions which are essential to salvation, such as: * Jesus saves but how? By mere animal pain he endured or by the Spirit with which He responded to those inflicting this pain on Him? * The absolute necessity of loving one's enemies. * How do Christians participate in the salvific process? * How to thrive without military arms or protection. * How and why the Church veered from Christ's truth.
* Did Jesus know what He was talking about and if so, why has the Church and its members ignored it? This retreat is absorbing. Tom Roberts, Editor at Large for the National Catholic Reporter, wrote, "Fr. McCarthy presents one of the most academically rigorous and thorough expositions I've encountered of Gospel nonviolence and love of enemies as core teaching of the Christian Scriptures... Dare to listen in knowing that you will be challenged and that your understanding of Christianity and your life as a Christian, will be altered." This is an unparalleled opportunity for Catholic or Protestant clergy, Sisters or Brothers, as well as laity, who would like to become more seriously informed and to more seriously ponder the much misunderstood, but crucially important issue of the Nonviolent Jesus of the Gospels, and His Way of nonviolent love of friends and enemies.
Cost: $360.00 Arrival: 3:00 PM / Sunday Departure: Friday after lunch
