NOVEMBER
18–20, 2005 Jesus
Christ: Our Companion and Guide
Fr. Daniel
O’Connell
As Church, we are
called to mediate Jesus Christ to the world. We do so by realizing
that He is our companion through life and that He asks us to be actively
involved in “companioning” each other. Just as the story of Emmaus
can be understood as a “chance encounter” with Christ, so is our life
filled with similar “encounters”. It is through these encounters
that we are given the grace to share our faith with others and
proclaim His word to our contemporary world. This weekend
retreat will offer us the opportunity to pray, listen and connect our
needs and desires to the presence of the God who “companions” and
calls.
Cost: $135.00
Arrival: 6:30 PM /
Friday
Departure: 1:00 PM / Sunday

NOVEMBER 25–27, 2005 Exploring
Old and New Images of Jesus Christ is the image of the
invisible God
The firstborn of all creation… He is before all things and in
Him all things hold together. (Colossians 1:
15,17)
Helene Cote,
p.m.
This retreat is open to
anyone who desires to become more intimate with Jesus. The focus
will be on the images of Jesus revealed in the Gospel stories, and how
through Jesus’ words and actions, the face of His Abba God is revealed to
us. It is hoped that we will not only come to see Jesus in a
different light, but that we will also be drawn to a new way of living and
praying.

DECEMBER 2–4, 2005
Annual Rivier Retreat:
Eucharist – The Heart of Divine Mercy I have established a throne of mercy on earth,
the tabernacle, and from this throne I desire to enter into your
heart. (Jesus to St. Faustina)
Marie May
Lausier, p.m. and a Team of Rivier Associates
This Advent
retreat will re-focus on the 5th Beatitude: Blessed
are the merciful, for mercy shall be theirs, in the light of the
Eucharist and the message of mercy that Jesus gave to Sister Faustina for
our times. The beatitudes call us to see ourselves, and to live in a
way that does not come easily. They stand in opposition to all the
standards and value systems of our world. The weekend offers
concrete and practical ways to respond with passion to God’s vision and
call of mercy. This experience is opened to anyone who has made the
Rivier Retreat.

DECEMBER 9–11,
2005 Young Adults’
Retreat: “I Was Blind, but Now I See”
William
Brown, OMV David Nicgorski, OMV
One of the most
overlooked things in the spiritual life is the obvious: The ability
to see. While most people have physical sight, many of us fail to
see the deeper aspects of our lives as it relates to God, others and
ourselves. The reasons for these are many, but one is not taking the
time to be aware. Awareness is one of the most important things in
the spiritual life, if our relationship with God and others is to
grow.
In preparation for Christmas, this Advent retreat for young
adults in their 20’s and 30’s will provide an opportunity to learn how we
can become more aware of God’s presence in our lives through discernment
and practices that foster awareness. There will be individual and
community prayer, as well as quiet moments to get away from the busyness
of life and draw close to Christ, who gives us the ability to
see.
Cost: $135.00 Arrival: 6:30 PM /
Friday
Departure: 1:00 PM / Sunday

DECEMBER 16–18, 2005 Advent: A
Season of Waiting Become aware of what is in
you. Announce it, pronounce it, produce it and give birth to
it. (Meister
Eckhart)
Helene Cote,
p.m.
Advent is a season that often goes untended and unexplored because
of all the Christmas preparations that can become overwhelming. This
weekend offers a special gift of sacred time and space to anyone who is
willing to put aside holiday busy-ness and spend time being still and
reflecting on what is being born within. Come and savor the true
meaning of “Advent Waiting.”

2005 – JAN 1, 2006 End of Year Retreat
Fr. Leonard Tighe
“Just remember, in the
winter, far beneath the bitter snows, lies a seed, that with the sun’s
love, in the spring, becomes the rose.” (The Rose – Bette Midler)
As in the song, many seeds have to be
frozen or die, before they can blossom in the spring. Come,
join us, as 2005 dies and gives way to 2006 - another
chance for new life.

The carpenter came and left
His tools among us. He said He would return for them and asked if we
would take, sharpen and use them to complete the work he started.
This retreat will explore ways men can sharpen and use the tools which
Jesus left with us in order to praise, revere and serve our God. It
is open for all men who are committed to the way of Jesus and would like
to strengthen their commitment through prayer, meditation, healing and
reconciliation.

JANUARY 20-22 2006 The
Eucharist Revealed
Fr. Bob Vaillancourt
We are a
Eucharistic People, nourished by the very Body and Blood of Our Lord and
Savior, Jesus Christ, that we may become His Body for others.
Nourished with the Eucharist, are we truly aware of what happens at Mass
right before our eyes? Fr. Bob will attempt to share with you what
actually goes on at Mass beyond the veil of our humanity. With the
help of Pope John Paul’s encyclical, Ecclesia de Eucharistia, and
the many saints who witnessed countless things happening at Mass, we will
grow in appreciation of this powerful gift of MASS.

FEBRUARY 3–5, 2006 Grateful Life – Graceful Life
Ann Harriman
There are some things about which nothing can be said and
before which we dare not be silent.
(T.S. Eliot)
Gratitude is
much more than being thankful for what pleases us. True gratitude is
the willingness to embrace whatever occurs in our life – pleasing or
not. A grateful life is a graceful life because gratitude allows us
to move with ease, not resisting, but accepting the whole of our
lives. Gratitude rests on the belief that whatever is happening
should be happening and we are called to address it...(Tom
Stella) This will be a time to take a look at how the “attitude of
gratitude” can become a way of being in the world, even when life
hurts.

FEBRUARY 10–12,
2006 Eating Tear Soup:
Grieving the Losses in Life
Helene Cote,
p.m.
Some cooking
requires that you measure ingredients exactly. But making soup is
different. With soup making, you improvise and your only goal is to
create something that will both satisfy your hunger and soothe what hurts
you. This weekend we will look at the ingredients that are needed to
make Tear Soup, that is, the time and the space needed to grieve,
to reflect on what will support us as we move through the grief and to
explore the opportunities for growth that accompany any
loss.

MARCH 31 – APRIL 2,
2006 Matriarchs in the Scriptures: Revealing a
Faithful God
Susan Frederick, p.m. Sylvia Genesse,
p.m.
A women’s retreat to
explore the questions: Do women of biblical times have anything to
say to today’s women? Can their attempt to relate with a faithful
God and their struggles in a society that denied them personal rights,
appeal to 21st century women?
The intent of the weekend
is to explore the Scriptures and discover in the stories of biblical
women, a common thread that binds women of all centuries. Despite
differences in time, culture, lifestyle and attitude, women share similar
experiences. They are motivated by the same passions of love,
compassion, hope and fear, as they seek to live their fidelity to a God
who is forever faithful.

APRIL 7–9, 2006 Young
Adults: “I Call You Friends”
William
Brown, OMV David Nicgorski, OMV
In the book of Sirach, the
writer says that, “A faithful friend is a sturdy shelter; he that
has found one has found a treasure” (6:14). Friendship is one of the
greatest gifts we can experience in our lives. It teaches us a lot
about ourselves, others and God and also about the friendship Jesus
enjoyed and shared with His disciples.
This Lenten Retreat
for young adults in their 20’s and 30’s, will provide an opportunity
to examine the friendships in our lives and how they can give us a glimpse
of the friendship that God desires to have with each of us. There
will be individual and community prayer as well as quiet moments to get
away from the busyness of life and draw close to Christ, who is our
friend.

JULY 22–29,
2006 Tending the Soul (Women's retreat)
Ann
Harriman
The central message of
Scripture is Love. Nearly all of God’s words are an expression on
God’s love. Sacred Scripture, therefore, becomes a meeting place
where you and the One who loves you can meet in honesty and intimacy…and,
where two hearts speak as
one.
This retreat will focus on the invitation to “drink freely of
Love”. (Song 5:1)

AUGUST 19
–26, 2006 The Spirituality of the Beatitudes
Helene Cote,
p.m.
The
Beatitudes, found in Matthew’s account of the Sermon on the Mount, were
exciting words that offered a new vision, a new way of life for all who
had come to follow Jesus and to believe in the Kingdom of God. Two
thousand years later, we continue to hear the Beatitudes proclaimed, but
what do they mean to us? Have they lost their power, their ability
to challenge and empower? This retreat will focus on exploring the
relevance of these same Beatitudes for
Christians of
the Twenty-First Century and on discovering how they can still be the
source of a new vision for each of us.
