     God has made a promise to us.  Waiting patiently for it to be fulfilled is the foundation of our spiritual life.  The big question is: How do we wait in hopeful expectation when life seems like a race to the finish line?  If we run only on good days, we may never reach the finish line!
     This retreat is like spending time running with old friends, waiting together for God to fulfill His promise.  Let's throw off all that slows us down and keeps us from running the race we have started so that we can live our lives with the same urgency of St. Paul: I have fought the good fight-- I have run the race to the finish... and through it all, I have kept the faith. (2 Timothy 4:7)
